毎年4月にヒューストン日本ビジネス協会は恒例のソフトボール大会を開催し、ヒューストン内で沢山の日本大企業が参加しています。スーザンはメンバーであり、案浦不動産は居酒屋　和チームのユニフォームのスポンサーの1人です！この大きな大会の準備として、選手の皆さんは毎週練習しており、2月27日日曜日に開催されたのはクリアレイクカップと呼ばれるベイエリアで、4チーム( JAXA、カネカ、クリアレイクユナイテッド、居酒屋　和) が参加しました。居酒屋　和チームは、優れたピッチングと強力な打撃、そして優れた防御力で3試合すべてに勝利し優勝しました。試合後はスーザンと攻のお家でバーベキューをみんなで楽しみました。 4月に開催されるトーナメントを楽しみにしています！

Every April, the Japanese Business Association of Houston holds a huge softball tournament where nearly every big Japanese company in Houston participates in some form or fashion. Susan is a member and Annoura Realty is one of the jersey sponsor for Team Izakaya Wa! In preparation for this big tournament, teams have been practicing weekly and Sunday Feb 27 was a 4 team tournament down in the Bay Area called the Clear Lake Cup. Joining was JAXA, Kaneka, Clear Lake United, and Team Izakaya Wa and I am excited to say that Team Izakaya Wa won all 3 games with some excellent pitching, strong hitting, and outstanding defense. Our win was followed up by a BBQ lunch at Susan and Koh’s house. Looking forward to April’s tournament!

ヒューストンで最も大きくそして人気なイベントの1つは、ロデオです。本日、2月28日から正式にロデオが開始され、3月20日まで開催されます。ヒューストンライブストックショーアンドロデオ（HLSR）は、ロデオヒューストンとも呼ばれ、世界最大の家畜展示会とされています。 約33,000人のボランティアがイベント運営を支援し、108種類もある異なる委員会で奉仕しています。スーザンはインターナショナル委員会の委員を務め、今年から真理子がチケット販売委員会のボランティアとして参加することが決まりました。HLSRは501(c)(3の)慈善団体であり、毎年2,500万ドルを超える奨学金を学生に授与しています。まだロデオに行ったことがないという方、今年こそ経験してみてください！ NRGセンターで見れる動物たちや、カーニバル、NRGスタジアム内でロデオを拝見し、夜にコンサートを楽しむことができます。年齢を問わず、誰もが楽しめる一日中のイベントです！ロデオに関する情報は以下のリンクからご覧ください: https://www.rodeohouston.com/

One of the largest and most exciting events of Houston is the RODEO!  Today Feb 28 kicked off the rodeo and it will run until March 20.  The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR), also called RodeoHouston, is the largest livestock exhibition and rodeo in the world. 33,000 volunteers help run the operations and serve on various committees, 108 different committees in fact!  Susan serves on the international committee, while this year Mariko joined as a volunteer on the ticket sales committee. HLSR is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and awards over $25M in scholarships annually to students.  If you have never been to the rodeo, it is a super fun experience! Visit the animals in NRG Center, ride the ferris wheel at the carnival, catch the rodeo action inside NRG Stadium, and enjoy a concert in the evening. 2月14日、 ハッピーバレンタインデー！日本ではバレンタインデーの祝い方がアメリカとは少し違うことをご存知ですか？日本では、バレンタインデーに女の子だけが男の子にプレゼントし、男の子は女の子に何もプレゼントをしないのです！ 2月14日まで、デパートやモールでは沢山の種類のチョコレートが販売され、多くの日本人女性や子供たちが好きな人に渡すチョコレートを購入します。また仕事上の関係者などにも、チョコレートを購入することも多々あります。これは、義理チョコといいます。そして…1ヶ月後の3月14日には「ホワイトデー」という日があり、バレンタインデーのお返しに男性から女性へチョコレートやギフトなどをプレゼントします！

It’s February 14 and we want to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day!! Did you know in Japan, Valentine’s Day is celebrated differently that here in the U.S.? That’s right. In Japan, on Valentine’s Day, only the girls gift the boys and the boys don’t give the girls anything! What?! Yes, that’s very different than here. Leading up to February 14, department stores and malls have all kinds of Valentine’s Day chocolates for sale and swarms of Japanese girls and ladies buy tons of chocolates for the guys they like. They even buy chocolates for guys they don’t romantically like, out of obligation (such as for their bosses or co-workers). These chocolates have a name for them: GIRI CHOKO. THEN… one month later on March 14, there is a day called “White Day”. On this day, all the boys and men who received chocolates from girls on Valentine’s Day must return the favor and present chocolates back to those girls!
