2003年、大統領奉仕と市民参加評議会は、アメリカの国力と国家アイデンティティにおけるボランティアの重要な役割を認識するために、大統領ボランティア功労賞を創設しました。 この賞は、全国各地のコミュニティにポジティブな影響を与えるため、奉仕活動を行った個人を表彰するためのものです。 PVSA は各政権のもとで継続され、この国が直面している最も困難な課題のいくつかを解決するために時間を費やしているボランティアを讃えてきました。 5月30日、スーザンの友人2人がタングルウッドのボールルームで行われた授賞式で表彰されました。 Jeff Syptak と Mazda Denon はどちらもヒューストン市で働いています。 ジェフはシルベスター・ターナー市長のアシスタントであり、マツダは市長の貿易国際問題局の世界貿易マネージャーです。 スーザンさんは、日本貿易使節団旅行のためターナー市長とともに東京を訪れた際、光栄にも二人に出会うことができたのです。 彼たちとの忘れられない経験の 1 つは、ハロウィーンの夜に、ハロウィーンの衣装を着た何千人もの人々と一緒に渋谷のスクランブル交差点を渡ったことです。ジェフとマツダ、おめでとう！

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too. The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation. Tuesday May 30, two of Susan’s friends were honored in an awards celebration at The Ballroom at Tanglewood. Jeff Syptak and Mazda Denon both work for the City of Houston. Jeff is the assistant to Mayor Sylvestor Turner, while Mazda is a Global Trade Manager for the Mayor’s Office of Trade and International Affairs. Susan was fortunate to meet both of them when they all traveled with Mayor Turner to Tokyo for the Japan Trade Mission Trip. One memorable experience was crossing the Shibuya Scramble on Halloween night with thousands of people in Halloween costumes! Congratulations, Jeff and Mazda!

毎年、ヒューストン不動産協会 (HAR) は50,000 人の会員を対象にグローバル デーを開催します。国際ビジネスに興味のある不動産関係者集まり、一日セミナーに参加します。外国のお客さんとのお仕事についてや、国際的な物件の広告掲載の仕方、他国の仲介業者との仕事をする際のアドバイスなど、国際的な不動産業者になるためのセミナーです。スーザンを含む数名の元グローバル委員会 委員長がイベントでプレゼンターを務め、ビジネスにおける知識などについてセミナーを行いました。その他のトピックには、認定国際不動産スペシャリスト (CIPS) の説明や全米不動産協会グローバル アンバサダー プログラムの概要などが含まれまisた。スーザンのセッションは専門能力開発に焦点を当て、案浦不動産が当社を国際的な不動産会社としてマーケティングするために実践しているアイデアを共有しました。二か国語の名刺を作成、二か国語のウェブサイトの作成、他国での信頼を築き評判を高めるためにオンラインで評判を高める、地元などのイベントでボランティアをする、国際貿易ミッションや会議に参加、ヒューストン日本商工会などに参加するなど、誰にでもできる簡単なコツを数件提案し、共有しました。 7 時間のセミナー後、アップタウン パークのマコーミック & シュミックスで参加者の皆さんと共にレセプションを楽しみました。

Every year, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) holds a Global Day for its 50,000 members. Interested realtors engaged in international business attend for a full day of education sessions. Whether working with foreign clients or listing international properties or working with brokers in other countries, there are many ways to be an international realtor. Several past Global Committee Chairmen, including Susan, were presenters at the event, sharing their knowledge and best business practices with the audience. Other topics included an explanation of the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation and an overview of the National Association of Realtors Global Ambassador program. Susan’s session focused on professional development, sharing ideas Annoura Realty implements in branding our company as an international real estate company. She suggested simple things such as printing bilingual business cards, having a bilingual website, getting online reviews to build trust and boost reputation in other countries, getting involved in community events, attending international trade missions and conferences, and becoming involved in their country’s chamber of commerce such as the Japan Business Association of Houston. The 7 hour educational day ended with a fun reception at Uptown Park’s McCormick & Schmick’s.

Cruise, which is a General Motors-backed autonomous vehicle company, will have self-driving cars on the streets of Houston. Only three other cities currently have Cruise-operated vehicles, which are in San Francisco, Phoenix, and Austin. The company uses a fleet of Chevy Bolt and launched in San Francisco in June 2022 and Austin in December 2022. Cruise has raised $10 billion in funding from companies like Honda, Microsoft, Walmart, T. Rowe Price, and the aforementioned General Motors. The cars are powered 100% by renewable energy, as the fleet is made up of 300 all-electric autonomous vehicles (driverless cars). Cruise cars obey all laws by driving no faster than the speed limit and coming to a complete stop at stop signs. They can even detect when emergency vehicles or school buses are nearby to respond accordingly. There is detection of people in bike lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road, or people on scooters. If a problem is encountered, the Cruise vehicle will pull over to the side of the road. We saw these driverless cars when we were in Austin, so be on the lookout because they are coming to Houston next!
