Elon Musk, the guy who started the Tesla car company, is doing some really big things in the state of Texas. He’s building a gigantic factory near Austin called Giga Texas. This factory is so huge that it covers 8 million square feet of land, which is about the size of 139 football fields! It’s going to be where they make some of Tesla’s cool cars like the Model Y and the Cybertruck. They’re planning to hire around 10,000 people to work there.

But that’s not all. A Tesla subsidiary registered as Gambit Energy Storage LLC has built a 100-megawatt battery energy storage project in Angleton. Huge-scale batteries are needed to store the electricity produced by wind and solar.

Building these big factories doesn’t just create jobs at Tesla; it also brings in a lot of other jobs and money to the area. In fact, experts predict that because of all this, about 50,000 jobs will be created, and Texas will make over $3.6 billion more money every year. So, it’s not just about making cool cars and batteries; it’s also helping the Texas economy grow.

Columbus Day is an annual holiday in the United States that commemorates Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas on October 12, 1492. It’s celebrated on the second Monday of October each year. Columbus was an Italian explorer, and he embarked on this famous journey with the support of Spain. He was seeking a new route to Asia by sailing westward but ended up reaching the islands of the Caribbean, specifically landing on an island that we now know as San Salvador in The Bahamas.

The primary purpose of Columbus Day is to honor and recognize Columbus’s historic voyage, which marked the beginning of European exploration and eventual colonization of the Americas. At the time, Columbus’s journey opened up new trade routes and connections between Europe and the Americas, leading to significant changes in world history.

However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that Columbus’s arrival had complex and often negative consequences for the indigenous peoples of the Americas. The arrival of Europeans brought diseases that devastated native populations, conflicts over land and resources, and the colonization of indigenous lands. These historical events have led to controversy and debate surrounding the observance of Columbus Day. Some people argue that it’s essential to recognize the negative impacts of Columbus’s arrival on indigenous communities.

In recent years, there has been a growing movement to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day alongside or instead of Columbus Day. Indigenous Peoples’ Day seeks to shift the focus towards honoring the contributions and rich history of Native American and Indigenous peoples. Many cities and states in the United States have chosen to adopt Indigenous Peoples’ Day as a way to promote a more inclusive and accurate understanding of American history.

案浦家にとって、比較的穏やかな一週間となりました。丈はマッコームズのビジネスコースで頑張っている中、今年の授業は昨年よりもはるかに難しいと言っています。この記事を書いている現在、テキサス大学vsオクラホマ大学の試合が今週末ダラスで行われ、丈はカッパ・シグマ会とともに2泊3日の旅行に行く予定です。男の子は全員女の子をデートに誘う伝統があり、丈の友達が同じ大学のチアリーダーを丈のためにデートに誘ったらしいです!?旅行の写真を見るのが楽しみです。面白いことに、私（スーザン）は、大学 2 年生の丈とまったく同じ年齢のときに、同じ試合を観に行ったことを覚えています。当時私はベイラー大学に通っていましたが、ルームメイトのジェニファー・ストーンはオースティン出身で、彼女の両親は大のテキサス大学ファンだったので、オースティンに行き、その後リムジンでダラスに試合を見に行きました。スタジアムの片面が赤一色 (オクラホマ大学)、スタジアムの片面がバーントオレンジ色 (テキサス大学) に染まる素晴らしい光景でした。泰とスーザンは、海軍兵学校のレスリングキャンプを視察するため、メリーランド州アナポリスへの 3 日間の旅行に行きました。アカデミーに通うことができるのは泰にとって難関校です。現在、上院議員2名に推薦を申請中で、選ばれることを願うばかりです…

It’s been a relatively calm week for the Annouras! Joe is plugging along with his business courses at McCombs and says his classes are much harder this year than last year. At the time of this writing, the Texas-OU game is coming up this weekend in Dallas, and Joe is set to go with his Kappa Sigma Fraternity for three days/two nights. Tradition has it that all the boys must invite a date to go. Joe says his friends have set him up with a UT cheerleader!? Looking forward to seeing a picture. The funny thing is that I (Susan) remember going to the Texas-OU game when I was exactly the same age as Joe, a sophomore in college. I was attending Baylor at the time, but my roommate Jennifer Stone was from Austin and her parents were big time UT fans so they had us go to Austin, then take a limo to Dallas to watch the game! It was an amazing sight to see one side of the stadium in solid red (Oklahoma University) and one side of the stadium in solid burnt orange (University of Texas)! Ty and Susan went on a 3 day trip to Annapolis, Maryland to check out a wrestling camp at the Naval Academy. It is Ty’s reach school to be able to go to the Academy. His application in with two senators for nominations so we shall see…
