  • USJC年次総会が東京で開催

    日米カウンシル（USJC）は、日米両国のパートナーシップの強化に取り組む、さまざまな分野や立場のリーダーを育成し、つなぐことを使命としています。毎年、日米両国の会員が集まる年次総会が開催されており、今年は10月14日・15日の2日間、東京・渋谷のセルリアンタワーで開催されました。案浦不動産のスーザンをはじめ、ドナ・コール氏やロバート・ゴンドウ氏など、ヒューストンからも複数の会員が参加しました。今年のテーマは「未来を切り拓くリーダーたち：日米戦略的同盟のさらなる発展に向けて」で、両国のリーダーたちが世界の安全保障、経済の強靭性、国境を越えたイノベーションの未来について意見を交わしました。多くの旧友との再会に加え、新たな出会いにも恵まれた素晴らしい機会となりました。会員向けのプログラムでは、日本ならではの「ご縁」という考え方が取り上げられ、人生における人との出会いの不思議さや、そのつながりが後に大きな影響をもたらすことの大切さを改めて感じる機会となりました。今年の総会には過去最多となる800名以上が参加し、講演者も非常に豪華な顔ぶれとなりました。詳細はこちらをご覧ください：https://www.usjapancouncil.org/annual-conference/

    The U.S. Japan Council’s mission is to cultivate and connect leaders at every level in the United States and Japan who are committed to strengthening our global partnership. Every year, members from both countries get together at an annual conference and this year, the conference was held at the Cerulean Tower in Shibuya on October 14-15. Susan and several members from Houston including Donna Cole and Robert Gondo attended. The theme this year was “Visionaries at the Helm: Advancing the U.S.-Japan Strategic Alliance.” Leaders from both nations discussed the future of global security, economic resilience, and cross-border innovation. It was nice to see so many friends and to also make many new friends. Members day emphasized the Japanese concept of “Go En” helping us to remember that magic of meeting people in our lives and how they can make a significant impact later.     2026年　Japan Festival

    Japan Festival Houstonが2026年9月12日・13日にHermann Parkで開催され、今年はさらにパワーアップ！例年の会場から大幅にエリアを拡大し、10万平方フィート以上のスペースを追加して、Hermann ParkからMiller Outdoor Theater、リフレクションプール周辺まで広がる大規模なイベントとなりました。ヒューストンらしい厳しい暑さにもかかわらず、多くの来場者が訪れ、音楽やダンスのライブパフォーマンス、武道、相撲の実演、Texas Kendama Openなどを楽しみました。そのほかにも、茶道、生け花、折り紙、盆栽、日本酒を楽しめるSake Village、そして2つのフード＆ドリンクエリアなど、日本文化を存分に体験できる内容が盛りだくさん！昨年は過去最高となる8万人が来場しましたが、2026年がその記録を更新したかどうかはまだ発表されていません。ただ、今年の大幅な会場拡大からも、さらに多くの来場者を見込んでいたことがうかがえます。

    スーザンと真理子は2日間とも終日VIPブースでボランティアをし、ザックは土曜日にJASHのボランティアとして参加。さらにお友達のJPと一緒に日本人会のお手伝いも行い、たこ焼きや焼き鳥の販売を担当しました！みんなにとって楽しく、とても良い経験となったJapan Festivalでした！

    Japan Festival Houston took over Hermann Park on September 12-13, 2026, and this year it got a serious glow-up. Instead of sticking to its usual spot, organizers expanded the festival to more than 100,000 extra square feet, stretching activities across Hermann Park, over to the Miller Outdoor Theater, and around the reflection moat. Even with the blistering Houston heat, huge crowds showed up for live music and dance, martial arts, and sumo wrestling demonstrations, plus a Texas Kendama Open competition. Beyond the performances, people could check out tea ceremonies, ikebana flower arranging, origami, bonsai, a sake village, and two sections of food and drinks. Last year’s festival set a record with 80,000 visitors, and while it’s not yet confirmed whether 2026 topped that number, the bigger footprint suggests organizers were clearly expecting an even bigger crowd.

    Susan and Mariko volunteered both days all day in the VIP booth while Zach volunteered with JASH on Saturday and with his friend JP volunteered with the Nihonjinkai helping to sell Takoyaki and Yakitori. It was fun experience for everyone!

  • 第582回 テキサス会ゴルフ「商工会長杯」

    昨日は寒く風の強い一日となりましたが、ヒューストン日本商工会主催の第582回テキサス会ゴルフトーナメントには約80名のプレーヤーが参加されました。朝は冷え込みましたが、午後には過ごしやすい気温となりました。ただし風の影響で、スコアメイクには苦戦された方も多かったようです。スーザンと丈も参加し、なんと二人ともリーダーボードのトップに並ぶ結果となりました。スーザンはレディース部門で95をマークし同率1位、丈はメンズ部門で79を記録し同率1位という素晴らしい成績でした。案浦不動産からは、居酒屋　和の$50ギフトカード2枚と、5月16日にHouse of Bluesで開催される渡辺直美公演のペアチケットを協賛させていただきました。当日は大変楽しい一日となり、SusanはNippon Shokubaiのお客様およびMOL (Americas) LLCのPresidentとご一緒にプレー、JoeはニューヨークからのREDACご来訪者様、Sumitomo CorporationのSVP、そしてKDDIのご友人とラウンドしました。今回も素晴らしい大会を運営してくださった主催者の皆さまに心より感謝申し上げます。

    Yesterday was a cold and windy day but that did not stop about 80 players from playing golf at the 582nd Texas Kai Golf Tournament, put on by the Japanese Business Association of Houston! The day started off chilly but ended at a nice temperature, though the wind probably affected a lot of scores. Susan and Joe both played this time, and both finished atop the leader board. Susan tied for first place with a 95 in the ladies category, while Joe tied for first place with a 79 in the mens category. Annoura Realty donated two $50 gift cards to Izakaya Wa as well as pair tickets to the May 16th Naomi Watanabe performance at the House of Blues. It was such a fun day, with Susan playing with a client from Nippon Shokubai and the President of MOL (Americas) LLC, and Joe playing with a REDAC visitor from NY, a SVP from Sumitomo Corporation, and a friend from KDDI. Thank you to the organizers for another job well done!

  • JBAH ソフトボール大会 2025

    毎年恒例のヒューストン日本商工会（JBAH）主催ソフトボール大会が、4月29日（日）にテキサス州パールランドで開催されました！年々レベルが上がっているこの大会、今年は特に熱気があり、外野手が黄色のベストを着用していたり、女性選手がピンクのリストバンドをつけていたりと、気合の入り具合がすごかったです！スーザンは今年も「Izakaya 和」チームで参加し、案浦不動産もユニフォームスポンサーとして応援しました！なんと今年は、チームに新しいユニフォームが支給され、新メンバーも多数加入し、表彰台を目指して気合い十分で臨みました。しかし、2試合目で「Mitsui Mulligans」に当たり、惜しくも敗退…。それでもスーザンは、たった一度の打席で奇跡のヒットを外野に放ち出塁し、なんとかベースを一周して1点をもぎ取りました！2025年の中で一番嬉しい瞬間だったかもしれません（笑）最終的には「Storms」が「Mulligans」を8対6で破って優勝。会場では、たくさんの友人やお客様にもお会いでき、まさにヒューストン日本コミュニティの温かさを感じる一日となりました。また来年、皆さんと元気にお会いできるのを楽しみにしています！

    The annual Japan Business Association of Houston’s softball tournament happened last Sunday April 29 in Pearland, TX. This softball tournament has gotten more and more intense over the years and this year I felt like it got even more intense with outfielders wearing special yellow vests and women wearing pink bracelets! Susan plays on the team, Izakaya Wa, where Annoura Realty is one of the jersey sponsors! This year, our team had brand new jerseys! We welcomed several new players to the team and had high hopes of making it to the podium, but our second game we hit the Mitsui Mulligans and lost. Susan had a miracle hit into the outfield and got herself on base with her one chance at bat, then made it somehow around all the bases and scored a point! It could be the happiest moment of 2025 so far. HA HA! In the end, it was the Storms that beat the Mulligans in the finals 8-6. It was so fun to see so many friends and clients at one event.   • 天皇陛下、65歳のお誕生日おめでとうございます！

    天皇陛下、65歳のお誕生日おめでとうございます！

    昨日、日本の天皇陛下・徳仁陛下が東京で65歳のお誕生日を迎え、皇居のバルコニーから大勢の人々に向けてご挨拶されました。陛下は、第二次世界大戦の悲劇を若い世代に伝え続けることの重要性について強調されました。今年は戦後80年の節目の年。戦争を直接経験された方々の多くが高齢となり、またはすでに亡くなられているため、若い世代がその経験を直接聞く機会が減ってきています。陛下は、この歴史を後世に伝え続けることの大切さを改めて訴えられました。天皇陛下のお誕生日には、皇后雅子さま、愛子さま、そして弟宮である秋篠宮さまご一家の一部がご一緒されました。

    また、日本国内だけでなく、世界中の日本大使館や総領事館でも天皇陛下のお誕生日が祝われました！ ここヒューストンでは、長沼善太郎総領事がリバーオークスの公邸で美しいレセプションを開催し、日本人コミュニティの皆様や関係者を招待されました。その中には、案浦不動産からはスーザンと真理子も出席しました！総領事館のスタッフ（私たちの大切な友人でありクライアントの皆様）とも再会でき、さらにUSJCの仲間であるドナ・コールさん、キャシー＆ロバート・ゴンドウさん、斉藤明美さん、スティーブ・サカニシさんとも楽しいひとときを過ごしました。素晴らしい時間でした！

    The Emperor of Japan, Naruhito, marked his 65th birthday in Tokyo yesterday, addressing a large crowd from the balcony of the Imperial Palace. He stressed the importance of telling the tragedy of World War II to younger generations before the stories fade away from memory. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the war’s end, and many of the people involved directly in the war have grown older or have passed away, making it difficult for the younger generation to hear their firsthand stories. Naruhito was accompanied by his wife, Empress Masako, their daughter Princess Aiko and some of his younger brother’s family.

    Around the world, Japanese Consulates and Embassies also celebrated the Emperor’s birthday. Here in Houston, Consul General Zentaro Naganuma held a beautiful reception at his official residence in River Oaks, inviting friends and members of the Japanese community, including Annoura Realty Group’s Susan and Mariko! It ws so nice to see the staff of the Consulate (our friends and clients) as well as colleagues and USJC friends like Donna Cole, Kathy and Robert Gondo, Akemi Saitoh, and Steve Sakanishi. Good times!
