パンダ祭（アジアの食と文化の大型フェスティバル）が、2026年5月8日〜10日にBuffalo Bayou Park内のThe Water Works（105-B Sabine St）にてヒューストン初開催されます。
イベントの見どころは以下の通りです：

• フード＆ベンダー：中国、日本、韓国、タイ、ベトナムの本格料理およびフュージョン料理を含む200種類以上のメニューを提供する80以上のフード・物販ベンダーが出店。
• カルチャーエンターテイメント：伝統的な獅子舞やK-POPダンス、アート実演などのライブパフォーマンスを実施。
• パンダテーマのアクティビティ：高さ約4.5メートルの巨大パンダバルーン、パンダバウンスリング、フェイスペイント、パンダクラフトなど。
• マーケットプレイス：アジア雑貨や衣類、アクセサリーを販売する20以上のアーティザンベンダーが出店。

Panda Fest, a major Asian food and culture festival, makes its Houston debut at The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park (105-B Sabine St) from May 8-10, 2026. 

Event Highlights include:

• Food & Vendors: Featuring 80+ food and merchandise vendors offering over 200 authentic and fusion dishes from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
• Cultural Entertainment: Live performances include traditional lion dances, K-pop dance, and art demonstrations.
• Panda-Themed Activities: A 15-foot inflatable panda, a panda bounce ring, face painting, and panda-themed crafts.
• Marketplace: Over 20+ artisan vendors selling Asian crafts, clothing, and accessories.

ゴルフファンの皆様へ！今年のHoustonOpenGolfTournamentでは、TexasChildrensHospitalがタイトルスポンサーを務めています。会場はヒューストン中心部にほど近い、意外にも市営のゴルフコースであるMemorialParkGolfCourseです。このコースはHoustonParksandRecreationDepartmentによって運営されており、全米でも有数の素晴らしいパブリックコースの一つとして知られています。トーナメントは3月23日から29日まで開催され、実際の4日間の競技は木曜日から日曜日にかけて行われます。チケットやスイート席にはさまざまな種類があり、15歳以下のお子様は有料チケットをお持ちの大人の方と一緒であれば無料で入場できるようです。出場予定の有名選手には、JasonDay、RickieFowler、BrooksKoepkaなどが含まれています。全出場選手の一覧はこちら、チケットのご購入はこちらからご確認いただけます。私もどこか1日は行けたらと思っておりますので、もしかしたら会場でお会いできるかもしれませんね。

Golf fans!!! Texas Childrens Hospital is the title sponsor for this year’s Houston Open Golf Tournament. The venue will be very central, at surprisingly, one of Houston’s public golf courses, Memorial Park Golf Course. This golf course is actually operated by Houston Parks and Recreation Department and is one of the best municipal courses in the United States!  The tournament runs from March 23-29 with the actual four day tournament going from Thursday to Sunday. There are various levels of tickets and suites to purchase and it looks like kids 15 and under go for free with a paying adult ticket! Some of the famous players that are supposed to be coming are: Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, and Brooks Koepka. To see a full list, click HERE. To buy tickets, click HERE. 2026年4月15日〜22日に予定されている初開催のFleetWeekHoustonでは、複数の米海軍艦艇と1,000人を超える海軍、海兵隊、沿岸警備隊の隊員たちがヒューストンを訪れ、さまざまなイベントや体験型プログラムが行われる予定です。

FleetWeekHoustonは、アメリカ建国250周年を記念する全米公式祝賀行事「America250」の一環として開催されます。

ヒューストン市は、PortofHoustonやHoustonFirstCorporationをはじめとする各団体と連携し、本イベントを主催しています。なお、テキサス州の都市で海軍FleetWeekが開催されるのは今回が初めてとなります。

Now scheduled for April 15-22, 2026, the inaugural Fleet Week Houston will bring multiple U.S. Navy vessels and more than 1,000 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen to the city for a series of events and experiences.

Fleet Week Houston is being celebrated during America 250, the official nationwide celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The City of Houston is hosting Fleet Week in collaboration with partners including the Port of Houston, Houston First Corporation and others. This event marks the first time a Texas city has hosted Navy Fleet Week!

Baseball fans!!!  It’s your time to shine! The Houston Astros open the 2026 MLB season at home against the Los Angeles Angels on March 26, 2026, at Daikin Park. The festivities include a Street Fest from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. before the game, with all fans receiving a 2026 schedule magnet. The team is finalizing its roster amidst minor injury concerns.

このニュースレター発行までのここ2週間は、春休みもあり、家族みんながそれぞれ別々の方向へ動き回るような慌ただしい毎日となりました。丈は現在、ClearLake高校時代のご友人3人と一緒にパリに行っており、皆テキサス大学の友達です。写真も送ってくれましたが、どうやらロンドンにも足を延ばしたようです。一方、泰はお得なクルーズを見つけて、フロリダのKeyWestとバハマへ出かけました。ビーチで豚と一緒に写っている写真や、豚と一緒に泳いでいる動画、さらには髪をコーンロウに編み込んだ写真まで送ってくれました！？ただ残念なことに、ちょっと置いた隙に携帯電話を盗まれてしまったとのことで、スーザンはVerizonに連絡して家族プランから回線を停止し、さらに泰の新しい携帯電話をどう手配するか対応に追われることになりました。丈はパリへ向かう前にヒューストンへ立ち寄り、Zachをロデオに連れて行ってくれました。スーザンも一緒に、KellyClarksonのコンサートを楽しみ、その後はカーニバルでゲームや乗り物も満喫しました。うちの息子たちはこうしたカーニバルゲームになるといつも本気で、とても負けず嫌いです。今回も大きなYAKを2つ勝ち取るまで諦めませんでした。ロデオといえば、SusanとKohはLukeBryanのパフォーマンスを観に行き、さらにMattTakahashiさんがヒューストンに来られた際には、Susanが国際委員会のクロージングパーティーとロデオ、そしてCreedのコンサートにもご案内しました。そうです、Mattさんにとってこれが人生初のロデオでした。先週末には、スーザンと攻は一緒に「そろそろ見頃かもしれない」と思い、bluebonnetを探しに出かけましたが、例年よく行く場所を回ってみても、今年はなぜかほとんど咲いていませんでした。もしかすると時期を逃してしまったのかもしれません。家族のニュースとしては、先週攻のお父様が転倒されるという事故がありました。レントゲンの結果、首の上部の骨を3か所骨折していることがわかり、とても心配しております。幸いにも、会話もでき、食事も取れており、機能面ではしっかりされていますが、現在は入院中で、数日中にはリハビリ病院へ移る予定です。どうかお祈りの中に覚えていただけましたら幸いです。

The past two weeks since this newsletter had our whole family going in different directions because of spring break. Joe is now in Paris with three friends from Clear Lake High School, who also go to University of Texas with him. He sent us some pictures and it looks like they went over to London as well! Meanwhile, Ty found a good deal on a cruise and ended up going to Florida’s Key West and then to The Bahamas. He sent us some pictures of him on the beach with a pig, a video of him swimming with a pig, and a picture of him with cornrolls braided into his hair!? We also got bad news that his phone got stolen when he set it down, so Susan had to deal with Verizon to get his line suspended off our plan + figure out how to get Ty another phone. 🙁  Meanwhile, Joe stoppped by Houston before he went to Paris, to bring Zach to the rodeo. Together with Susan, they went to see the Kelly Clarkson concert (excellent) and to play games and ride rides at the carnival. Our boys are always super competitive when it comes to these carnival games and they did not give up before winning two large YAKS! Speaking of the rodeo, Susan and Koh went to watch Luke Bryan perform, and when Matt Takahashi came to visit Houston, Susan brought him to her international committee’s closing party + the rodeo + the Creed concert (hard rockers!). And yes, this was Matt’s FIRST RODEO! Susan and Koh decided to go hunting for bluebonnets last weekend, thinking this must be the season for them, but weirdly after going to all the usual spots, there were very few bluebonnets blooming this year. Maybe we missed the season?! In family news, Koh’s father had an accident and fell last week. We are worried about him in the hospital as x-rays show he broke one of his upper neck bones in 3 places. He is fully functional, talking, and eating but is hospitalized for now, though slated to move to a rehabilitation hospital in the coming days. Please keep him in your prayers.
