    冬休みが1月7日まで続いたため、ザックと一緒に2回目の冬休み旅行に行くことにしました！泰はすでにアナポリスに戻り、丈は友達との予定があったため、今回はスーザン、コー、ザックの3人でサウスパドレアイランドへ向かいました。私たちにとって初めての場所であり、コロラドと比べるとドライブがとても楽でした（特に攻が運転を全部引き受けてくれたので…笑）。サウスパドレアイランドは、テキサス州の最南端にある人気のビーチタウンで、ヒューストンから車でコーパスクリスティ経由で約6時間の距離にあります。スーザンのテキサス不動産仲間であるエステバンが所有する物件に滞在させてもらい、2つの家族でビーチを探索しました。また、島で「ババ・ガンプ・シュリンプ」をオープンする予定の開発者とも会うことができました。サウスパドレアイランドの面白いところは2つあります。一つ目は、ビーチを何マイルも車で走れること。二つ目は、貝殻が非常にたくさんあることです！ほとんどは壊れたものですが、エンジェルウィングや色鮮やかな貝殻のかけらがたくさん見つかり、貝殻集めがとても楽しい体験になりました。

    With the winter holiday lasting until January 7 for Zach, we decided to take a second winter vacation!  Ty had already gone back to Annapolis and Joe had plan with his friends, so it was only Susan, Koh, and Zach who headed to South Padre Island! We had never been there before and compared to Colorado, the drive was easy (especially since Koh drove ALL of it…HAHA!). South Padre Island is a popular beach town all the way down at the southern tip of Texas. From Houston, it takes about 6 hours to get there through Corpus Christi. Susan’s Texas Realtors friend Esteban let them stay at one of his properties and the two families explored the beach and met up with a developer who will opening up Bubba Gump Shrimp on the island. Two cool things about South Padre Island: You can drive on the beach for miles and miles and miles, and if you love shells, they have a LOT of shells there! Most are broken, but there were plenty of angel wings and many amazing colorful shell pieces that made shell hunting lots of fun!

    もう12月中旬になり、2024年もあと2週間で終わりです！本当に時が経つのは早いですね。

    我が家の近況をご報告しますと、ザックが学校のミュージカル「アダムスファミリー」に出演し、ルーカス役を演じました。放課後、毎日1ヶ月間練習を重ねてきた成果がしっかりと出ていて、舞台がどのように仕上がったかを見るのは本当に素晴らしい体験でした。ソロパートも担当し、たくさんの観客の前で歌う姿に家族一同とても誇りに思いました。よく頑張ったね、ザック！ホリデーシーズンも間近になり、丈はオースティンから戻ってきて冬休みを楽しんでいます。そして泰はなんと「明日」帰ってきます！2週間家族と一緒に過ごせるので、みんなとても楽しみにしています。ザックは今週いっぱい学校がありますが、その後、家族5人でパゴサスプリングスに向かい、リフレッシュして心身ともに充電してくる予定です。この時期は、年末の財務計画や固定資産税の支払い（痛い出費！）を済ませ、クリスマスカードの準備に追われる毎日です（今週やっと送る予定です！）。みなさんも、今年最後の数週間を元気に乗り切ってくださいね！

    Mid December already and we have just two more weeks left in 2024! Time moves so fast these days. For our family news, Zach performed in a school musical, The Addams Family, playing the role of Lucas. He and his cast have been practicing after school day after day for a month and it was so neat to see how the show came together. Zach had a solo and we were super proud of him getting up on stage to sing in front of everyone! Good job, Zach! With the holidays coming soon, Joe has come back from Austin and is now enjoying his winter break. Ty comes home TOMORROW! We are super excited to him back with us for TWO WEEKS! Zach has school until the end of this week and then the 5 Annouras are heading to Pagosa Springs to reset and recharge. It’s a busy time of the year as we do our end of the year financial planning, pay for property taxes (ouch!), and try to get out Christmas cards (going out this week, finally!).  Good luck, everyone, getting through the final weeks of the year!

    先週のサンクスギビングホリデーは、案浦家の男子たちが全員帰省し、5月以来初めて家族5人が揃いました！特に嬉しかったのは、アナポリスから休暇で4日半帰ってきた泰との再会でした。なんと、スティーブン・イェーガーさんが海軍士官学校から泰を迎えに行き、ボルチモア空港まで送ってくれたんです。本当に感謝です！制服姿で帰省、「シビーズ」に着替えるのを楽しみにしていました。「シビーズ」とは、一般の人が着る普通の服を意味する言葉です。彼が自分の服を着られるのは「休暇中」のみで、このサンクスギビングが初めての休暇だったので特別な時間でした。親友たちとも再会し、毎日（そして毎晩！）クリアレイク周辺を駆け回っていましたが、昨日の朝、再びメリーランドに戻っていきました。丈は先週の土曜日にテキサス大学から帰ってきて、到着するやいなやスーザンとクラレの友人たちとゴルフコースに直行。1週間の間、ほぼ毎日ゴルフを楽しみ、金曜日の夜にはカレッジステーションで行われるテキサス大学対A&Mの試合に向かいました。案浦家では、スーザンのご両親と食事を楽しんだり、家族5人でレイクリビングストンへの日帰り旅行に出かけ、サンクスギビング当日には州立公園をハイキングしました。家族が揃ったことに一番喜んでいたのは、やっぱりスーザンだったかもしれませんね！

    With Thanksgiving holiday last week, all the Annoura boys returned home and we were a family of 5 for the first time since May. It was especially exciting to see Ty, who flew home from Annapolis on leave for 4.5 days. Thank you to Stephen Yeager for picking him up at the Naval Academy and bringing him to Baltimore Airport for us! Ty arrived in uniform and was excited to change into ‘civies’ which is a word that means normal clothes for civilians. He is allowed to wear his own clothes only when he is ‘on leave’ and this Thanksgiving break was his first time to have leave. He met up with his best friends and ran around Clear Lake every day (and night) until he went back to Maryland yesterday morning. Joe returned from University of Texas last Saturday and immediately jumped on the golf course with Susan and her Kuraray friends. He spend his one week golfing almost everyday until he left on Friday night for the UT vs. A&M game in College Station. The Annouras enjoyed a few meals with Susan’s parents and the family of five also took a one day trip to Lake Livingston and hiked around the state park on Thanksgiving Day. Susan was probably the happiest of all to have all the boys home!

  • スーザンの日本旅行のハイライト！

    スーザンの日本旅行は、とても素晴らしい経験となりました。まず、ドナ・コールは、日本の小池百合子知事と個人的な友人で、先週の火曜日、知事のオフィスにて面談をすることができました。麻布台ヒルズの有名なチームラボに入れなかったとき、小池知事が電話をくださり、突然、特別なパスをもらえました。もうひとつの素敵な経験は、タイトーのゲーム会長（スペースインベーダーの発明者）や東急ホテルズの会長など、大企業の多くの日本人のCEOや会長に会えたことです。ドナがセルリアンタワーの私たちの部屋を褒めてくれた後、突然、美しいワインのボトルといくつかの日本の贈り物が部屋に届けられました。個人的な話ですが、スーザンは11月1日に軽井沢を訪れることができました。ちょうど21年前、彼女が初めて軽井沢を訪れた日と同じ日です。当時32歳で丈を妊娠中だった彼女は、Love FMの仕事で東京に出張し、ニューアルバム「White Flag」を出したばかりのイギリス人アーティスト、ダイドにインタビューをする、素晴らしい思い出になりました！ 福岡での週末もとても特別なものとなり、スーザンは攻の両親を訪ね、友人たちと会い、奈良屋町の案浦家の土地に現在建設中の家の状況を確認することができました。本当に素晴らしい日本旅行で、とても生産的でした！ パワフルなUSJCの年次会議に出席したことに加えて、スーザンは山田さん、光澤さん、渡辺さん、清水さんにも会うことができました。 全員、案浦不動産が管理するヒューストンの家を所有する日本人投資家の皆さんです！ 近況について話し合い、直接お話が出来、とても楽しかったです。たった8日間でこれほど多くのことができたなんて信じられません！スーザンの素晴らしい日本旅行は、今朝ヒューストンに戻って終了しましたが（そして、新しいクライアントのビルダーオリエンテーションのためにすぐにキーマに行きました）、人生はこれからも続きます！

    The Japan trip for Susan had some super awesome experiences. First, Donna Cole is personal friends with the Governor of Japan, Ms. Yuriko Koike. We were able to have a short meeting with the Governor last Tuesday in her office! When we couldn’t get into the famous teamLAB in Azabudai Hills, Governor Koike san put a call in and suddenly we had special passes! Another neat experience was getting to meet many Japanese CEO’s and Chairmen of major companies such as the Chairman of TAITO games (inventors of Space Invaders) and the Chairman of Tokyu Hotels. After Donna praised and complimented our room at the Cerulean Tower, we suddenly had delivered to our room a beautiful bottle of wine and several Japanese gifts! On a personal note, Susan was able to visit Karuizawa on November 1, exactly the same day 21 years ago that she visited Karuizawa for the first time. She was 32 at that time, pregnant with Joe, and was in Tokyo on a business trip for Love FM to interview the U.K. artist Dido, who had just come out with a new album called White Flag.  Incredible memory that was! A weekend in Fukuoka was also super special. Susan got to visit with Koh’s parents, see some friends, and to check the status of the new family home currently being built on the Annoura family land in Narayamachi. Such a great trip to Japan, and so productive too! In addition to attending the powerful USJC Annual Conference, Susan also met Yamada san, Mitsuzawa san, Watanabe san, and Shimizu san.  All of these folks are Japanese investors with houses in Houston that Annoura Realty manages! It was so, so fun to catch up with everyone, update them on their houses, and to talk to them face to face. Can’t believe so much was done in just 8 days! Susan’s amazing Japan trip ended today, when she arrived back to Houston this morning (and rushed immediately to Kemah for a new client’s builder orientation). Life goes on!

    過去 2 週間、スーザンは 1 週間ヒューストンにいて、2 週間目に東京へ出発しました。彼女が家にいた 1 週間は、10 月 21 日月曜日の誕生日を除いて、ほとんど仕事ばかりで遊びはありませんでした。誕生日には攻とスーザンはガルベストンへ行き、冷たいアサヒビールを片手に芝生の椅子に座って波が打ち寄せたり引いたりするのを無意識に眺め、数時間休みました。2 人はまた、誕生日のディナーにガイドズ シーフードへ行きました。翌日、スーザンの親友であるクリスとジャネットが彼女を地元へ連れて行き、お気に入りのハンバーガー店と 2 つの地元のバーへ行き、誕生日を祝いました。その後の数日間、スーザンはあゆみさんのタウンハウスの契約締結を手伝い、新しい賃貸物件のリストを取得し、2 軒の家を契約し、2 人の駐在員の新しいアパート探しを手伝いました。また、テキサス不動産協会のリーダーシップ 会議に出席するため、2 日間オースティンへ行きました。一方、家ではザックがミュージカルのリハーサルが始まりました。彼はミュージカル「アダムス ファミリー」のルーカス役に抜擢されたのです。彼の合唱団は高校のフットボールの試合で国歌を斉唱したこともあったので、とても興奮しました。泰は海軍兵学校で銃を撃ったり戦車のような乗り物に乗ったりしている写真を送ってくれました。彼は初めてレスリングの遠征に参加することはできませんでしたが、次回は選抜されるよう一生懸命努力しています。オースティンで丈は、来年の夏のインターンシップに向けてさまざまな仕事の面接を受けています。今のところ、ウォルマートのコーポレートファイナンス部門で働くというオファーを取り付けています。おめでとう！ 先週の日曜日、スーザンはUSCJの年次会議に出席するため日本へ出発しました。今日帰国し、明日はボストンで開催されるNARの年次会議に出発します。水曜日は彼女にとって大事な日です。彼女のグループがキャップストーンプロジェクトを発表し、うまくいけばNARリーダーシップアカデミーを卒業できます。

    In the past two weeks, Susan was home in Houston for one full week, before leaving to Tokyo for the second week. During her week home, it was almost all work and no play, besides her birthday, which was Monday October 21. Koh took her to Galveston for a couple of hours of R&R, sitting on lawn chairs mindlessly watching the waves roll in and out with a cold Asahi Beer in hand. The two also went to Gaido’s Seafood for her birthday dinner. The next day, Susan’s two best friends Chris and Janet took her out to celebrate her birthday locally, hitting their favorite burger spot and two local bars. In the days to follow, Susan helped Ayumi san close on her townhome, picked up a new lease listing, put two houses under contract, and helped two expats find their new apartment homes. She also went to Austin for two days for a Texas Realtors Leadership Conference! Meanwhile, back at the house, Zach started musical rehearsals. He was cast as Lucas in the musical Adams Family. His choir team also sang the National Anthem at a high school football game, so we were excited to see him do that. Ty sent us some pictures of him at the Naval Academy, shooting a gun and riding in a tank-like vehicle. He did not make the traveling wrestling team for the first tournaments but will continue to try hard to get there. As for Joe in Austin, he is interviewing for various jobs for next summer’s internship. So far, he has secured an offer working for Walmart in their corporate finance department.  Proud of him!  Last Sunday, Susan left for Japan to attend the U.S. Japan Council Annual Conference. She returned today and leaves tomorrow for the NAR’s Annual Conference in Boston. Wednesday is a big day for her, as her group presents their Capstone Projects and hopefully graduates from the NAR Leadership Academy!
