私ごとですが少し嬉しいニュースがあります！スーザンは全米不動産協会（National Association of Realtors）から国際不動産スペシャリスト（CIPS）の講師として承認されました! CIPSは、国際的なクライアントを専門に扱う不動産業者のための特別な資格です。この講座を受けるには、合計5つ、各クラス8時間が必要です。

CIPSは世界中の不動産業者に提供されており、私たちが世界各国の不動産業者を紹介する際には、必ずこのCIPSの指定を受けている業者を探します。テキサス州では、これまで2人の公認講師しかいませんでした。スーザンは、親友のピウス・ドーソン（オーストリアとドイツのNARグローバル・アンバサダー）とエド・イーキン（バルバドス、ベリーズ、トリニダード・トバゴのNARグローバル・アンバサダー）と共に申請し、3人とも無事認定されました。ここヒューストンだけでなく、世界のどこでもこのクラスを教えることができるのです。

余談となりますが、案浦不動産からは昨年、藤田真理子がCIPSを取得しました。おめでとう！

In somewhat exciting news, Susan was approved to be a Certified International Property Specialist instructor by the National Association of Realtors! The CIPS designation is a special add on designation for realtors who specialize in working with international clients. There are five 8-hour classes that are required to get the designation:

The CIPS designation is offered to all realtors all over the world and when we refer clients to realtors in different countries, we always look for one who has this CIPS designation. In Texas, there has only been two approved instructors. Susan applied with her two best friends Pius Dawson (NAR Global Ambassador to Austria and Germany) and Ed Eakin (NAR Global Ambassador to Barbados, Belize, Trinidad & Tobago), and all three of us were recently accepted! We can team teach these classes here in Houston but also anywhere in the world! 

On a side note, Annoura Realty is proud of our agent, Mariko Fujita, for getting the CIPS designation last year!

案浦家では、個々に春休みの予定があります。丈はテキサス大学から帰省後、カッパシグマン友愛会の仲間たちとフロリダのデスティンに旅行へ行きました。末っ子のザカリーは5年生の友だちと一緒に、ワシントンDCへ訪問する修学旅行にお出かけしました。クリアレイクの5年生がワシントンDCに行くのは、伝統的行事で、 スーザンは8年生の時、丈は5年生の時に行きました。泰は残念ながら行けませんでした…ごめんね、泰。今週水曜日、泰はイーグルスカウトの審査会に臨みます。 合格して、案浦家にまた一人イーグルスカウトが増えることを願っています。

Spring break in the U.S. is usually one week long. It is normally in March and where we live in Clear Lake, it is this week!  This is a great time for families to take a road trip together and to check out some of the fun cities around Texas like San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, or even Fredericksurg or South Padre Island. You may get lucky and run into some bluebonnets!

For the Annoura Family, everyone has different things going on. Joe came back from University of Texas for a couple days, then turned around and went to Destin, Florida with his Kappa Sigman fraternity buddies. Even little Zachary is on a vacation of his own. He went with his 5th grade friends on a special trip to visit Washington DC! It is a tradition for 5th graders in Clear Lake to go on a trip to DC.  Susan actually did it when she was in 8th grade, Joe did it in 5th grade. Somehow Ty didn’t get to do it… sorry Ty. This Wednesday Ty will sit for his Eagle Scout Board of Review.  Hopefully he passes and we add another Eagle Scout to the Annoura Family!

アジア太平洋アメリカ女性センター（CAPAW）は、3月9日から11日にかけてヒューストンのダブルツリーホテル・アット・グリーンウェイ・プラザで「Women of Color Conference」を開催しました。スーザンの師匠であるドナ・コールは、このイベントを企画者の1人で、「My Business Journey」というテーマで行われたパネルディスカッションのスピーカーとして、スーザンに出演を依頼しました。壇上ではドナが司会を務め、3人のスピーカーがどのように会社を立ち上げたのか、また、人生で学んだ、学校では学べなかった人生の教訓は何か、といった質問ををしました。素晴らしい質問ばかりですね。私は、ヒューストンで育ち、ベイラー大学に進学し、日本への交換留学を経て、結婚して福岡に14年間移り住んだ経歴についてお話ししました。また、日本では9年間ラジオのパーソナリティを務め、トップ40カウントダウンの司会をしていたことについても触れました。その後、ヒューストンに戻り、35歳の時にアメリカで仕事経験がないまま、不動産会社を設立しました。聴衆は私の話にとても興味を持ち、人生は計画を立てるのが難しいこと、学校ではそれを教えてくれないことについてお話ししました。特別な機会を意識すること、そしてその機会が訪れたときに柔軟に受け入れることが重要です。また、自分の価値や特別な才能を知ることは、競合他社の中で傑出した存在になるための一つの鍵です。クライアントのニーズや期待を理解し、それを満たし、さらに上回ることが、ビジネスの成功に導くのです。このイベントには素晴らしいスピーカーが何人も参加し、その後のレセプションで参加者と交流できたのはとても良い経験となりました。ドナ・コールさん、イベントに参加させていただき、ありがとうございました。

The Center for Asian Pacific American Women (CAPAW) held their Women of Color Conference in Houston from March 9-11 at the Double Tree Hotel at Greenway Plaza. Susan’s mentor, Donna Cole was a key person organizing the event and asked Susan to be a speaker in a panel discussion on the topic of My Business Journey. On the stage, Donna was the moderator and she asked questions about how the three speakers started their companies and what are some of the lessons in life that we have learned along our journey that we did not learn in school. Great questions! I mentioned my background of growing up in Houston, going to Baylor, doing an exchange program to Japan, then getting married and moving to Fukuoka for 14 years. I also talked about my job in Japan being a radio personality for 9 years and hosting the Top 40 Countdown. After moving back to Houston, I was 35 and had not ever worked in the U.S. before and that is when I opened my real estate company. The audience was very interested in my story and I told them about how life is difficult to plan out, and that school does not teach you that.  Being conscious of special opportunities and being flexible to accept these opportunities when they arise is important. Knowing your worth and your special talents is also one key to being outstanding among your competitors. Understanding the clients’ needs and expectations and meeting and even surpassing them can help make your business succeed. There were several great speakers at the event and it was so nice to mingle with the attendees at the reception afterwards. Thank you, Donna Cole, for including me in the event!

現在、ヒューストンはロデオで大盛り上がりです！2月28日に開幕し、ヒューストン、テキサス、アメリカ、そして世界各地から観光客が訪れている中、最初の8日間は海外からのゲストのために特別なプログラムが用意されています。スーザンは今年初めて、ヒューストン・ロデオの国際委員会の部門副委員長を務め、8日間で109カ国から約3000人のゲストを歓迎しました。国際家畜会議と呼ばれる講演会や、アグサミットでの牛の審査、舞踏会や、リバーオークスカントリークラブでの女性ファッションショーとランチ、リライアントセンターの上の国際本部では、マリアッチバンド、ワインの試飲会、ラインダンス、スノーコーン、アイスクリームサンデー、巨大チャーシューテーブル、ロデオ券抽選、タコスバーなど多くのイベントが行われました。このプログラムに参加する海外からのゲストの多くは、牛や精液、胚を購入するため、ベンダーやクライアントに会うため、あるいは世界中の牧場主たちと出会い、ネットワークを構築するために毎年訪れます。多くのゲストをもてなすために委員会や運営チームは懸命にボランティアする中、ゲストと楽しくも過ごしました。毎年楽しみにしていますが、今年は特に最高の年だったと思います。また、ゲストの皆さんのために食べ物を寄付し、貢献してくれた地元のレストランの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。そして、おもてなしとボランティアをしてくれた委員会の皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。最後に、ロデオのインターナショナル・デイズに参加するためにヒューストンを訪れてくれたすべての来場者に感謝します。

The Houston Rodeo is in full swing right now. It kicked off Feb 28 and visitors from all over Houston, Texas, the United States, and the WORLD come to enjoy it. The rodeo has a special program for its international guests and the program runs for the first 8 days of rodeo. For the first time, Susan was a division vice chairman for the Houston Rodeo’s International Committee. Together with her committee, they welcomed nearly 3000 guests from 109 countries over 8 days. There was a lecture series called the International Livestock Congress, a cattle judging contest at the Ag Summit, a beautiful evening gala, a ladies fashion show and luncheon at River Oaks Country Club, and many activities in at the international headquarters above Reliant Center: a mariachi band, wine tasting sessions, line dancing, snow cones, ice cream sundaes, a HUGE Charcuterie table, rodeo ticket drawings, taco bars, etc. Many of the international guests who participate in the program come every year to do business, to buy cattle or semen or embryos, or to meet vendors and clients, or to learn and network with other ranchers from around the world. It is a beautiful program and a lot of work and effort for the committeemen and management team to host so many guests, but it is so much fun and meaningful. I look forward to it every year and I think this was the best year yet! A big thank you also to all the local restaurants who donated and contributed food to feed everyone! A big thank you to all the committeemen for all the hospitality and time put forth. And finally, a big thank you to all the visitors who traveled to Houston to participate in the Rodeo’s International Days!

2月17、18日は高校レスリングの州総体でした。テキサス州各地域の中で上位 4 人のレスラーが州のトップを目指して戦いました。前回のニュースレターでお話ししたように、高校生は同じ規模の学校の子供たちとマッチします。そのため、クリア レイク高校のような 2225 人以上の生徒がいる大規模な高校に通う子供たちは、6A という大規模なカテゴリで争います。テキサスでは、 4 つの地域に分割し、各地域内には 4 つの学区があり、各学区内には最大12校の学校があります。例えば、ケイティはリージョン3 地区9であり、ケイティ地区内だけでも10校あります。 クリアレイク高校は、リージョン3内 地区12、合計8校あります。州内のトップレスラーが集まる試合を２つか間見続けた結果、数々の素晴らしいマッチを見ることができました。アレンやロックウォールなどのダラス地区、さらにはイーストウッドやケイティ高校、オースティンのドリッピング スプリングスやベイダーグリフトなどのエルパソ地区、そしてウッドランズ カレッジパークまで、強豪ぞろいの試合となりました。 スーザンの次男、泰は126ポンド階級のリージョナル チャンピオンとして、州総体に参加しましたが、残念ながらエルパソ高校との試合に敗れました。次は、敗者側のブラケットに送られ、3位または5位の座を狙うために再度戦います。1日目は３試合中2試合勝ち、2 日目に挑む結果となりました。2日目は、1試合目無事勝利、 3位のチャンスをつかみましたが、その後、エルパソ高校との再戦となり敗北する結果となりました。 まだ5位になるチャンスがある泰はもう１試合挑みましたが、最終ブザーでも相手に 2ポイント取られ結果6位となりました。いろいろなことが学べる結果となった2日間でしたが、泰がテキサス州6A内で6位になれたことを誇りに思います。今年の目標はメダルを獲得することだったため、目標達成できてよかったです。

February 17-18 was the pinnacle of high school wrestling. It was the Texas state championships where the top four wrestlers in each region go to wrestle for the top spots in the state! As we talked about in our last newsletter, high school kids compete against kids in similar sized schools. So kids that go to a large high school of over 2225 students, like Clear Lake High School, have to compete in the large high school category, which is 6A. In Texas, UIL divides the state into four regions and inside each region is four districts, and inside each district can be up to 12 schools! See the chart above. Katy for example, is district 9 inside region 3 and inside Katy’s district alone is 10 different high schools. Clear Lake High School is in district 12 inside region 3 and has 8 different schools. From watching all the top wrestlers in the state over two days, we saw some amazing talent. Dallas areas like Allen and Rockwall and even El Paso areas like Eastwood as well as Katy High School and Austin’s Dripping Springs and Vadergrift, even the Woodlands College Park- all had extremely tough wrestlers! As Regional champion for 126 pounds, Susan’s son Ty went into the bracket strong, but unfortunately lost his match against a boy from El Paso. That sent him to the loser side of the bracket where he had to work his way back up to try for a spot at either 3rd or 5th place. He won his next two matches on day 1 to survive and make it to day 2.  On Day 2, he won his first match to make it to a chance at 3rd, but then oh no, was matched up again with the El Paso boy (who lost later on the winner side of the bracket) and Ty lost again to him (sadly!).  That put Ty in the match for 5th place but in the end, the other boy was able to score 2 points at the final buzzer to win. It was a very exciting couple of days and we are proud of Ty for finishing 6th in the state for 6A schools.  His goal this year was to get a medal at state so Praise the Lord he accomplished that!
